I'm trying to put as little content on my website right now as possible because I plan on redoing it from the bottom up. But people ask for this recipe, and it's so much easier this way than writing it down all the time.
Makes a 2 lb. loaf or ~12 rolls.
Directions
- Place following in the bread machine, in order listed.
- For rolls: set machine to dough setting. Start it.
- Grease pans and sprinkle cornmeal lightly on surface.
- When dough ready, remove from machine and form into rolls.
- Place rolls on baking sheet. Cover, and let rise ~15-20 minutes.
- Cook at 350° for 10-15 minutes.
- For bread: follow directions above, but make one to three loaves instead of the smaller rolls. OR just set the bread machine to the "whole wheat" setting.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups water.
- 2 Tbl. butter.
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1½ cups whole wheat flour
- 2 Tbl. corn meal.
- ½ cup rolled oats.
- Up to ¼ cup miscellaneous grains. (This is a good way to use the crushed ends of a box of cereal. Raisin bran, shredded wheat, etc. I 'll add that "Captain Crunch" and other sugar cereal won't work well for this.) If you don't have any, just put in a bit more corn meal and or oats instead.
- ¼ cup tight brown sugar.
- 2¼ tsp. salt
- 3¾ tsp. yeast
